Interested in buying in?

Occasionally a unit comes up for sale. We have eight single-story 2 x 1 units (80 sqm) and four two-story 3 x 2 family homes (130 sqm). Becoming a homeowner in our sustainable village is a journey of shared values and commitment to the environment.

All homes include an undercover parking bay and lockable storage shed. Ownership also includes a share in all common facilities, including the 118 sqm common house, workshop, gardens, solar panels, battery system, rainwater tanks and more.

The strata is self-managed, and the community is involved in maintaining the gardens, helping to keep our levies low.  Currently, our annual levies are around $3,330 for 2-bedroom units and $3,666 for family homes.

Conditions of purchase

Deco is founded on the principles of cohousing, a participatory and community-led form of housing that combines private homes with shared spaces designed to support connection, collaboration and interdependence.

Participation is the foundation of community living. Deco is not a supported retirement village or care facility and has no paid staff. To ensure the equitable sharing of responsibilities, all owners are expected to help maintain and manage our shared spaces and participate in monthly busy bees, community activities, meetings and decisions according to their time, abilities and skills, in line with our strata by-laws.

We also have a nonviolent conflict resolution agreement. Conflict is a natural and healthy part of any relationship or group process. Owners should seek to work on their capacity for dialogue and communication prior to and while living in the community.

All lot owners and residents agree to:

  1. Pursue the vision and intent of an ecologically sustainable cohousing ecovillage

  2. Help build a cohesive community of owners and residents for collaboration, innovation, socialising and celebration

  3. Practise community spirit, compassion, nonviolent communication and conflict resolution

  4. Enhance the ecovillage common house, gardens and other common amenities.

Our carefully crafted bylaws outline the underlying agreements between all lot owners. They provide a legal basis by which to achieve the Deco vision and the security of a strata title as provided by the Strata Titles Act 1985 (WA).Before making an offer to purchase a lot, prospective buyers should familiarise themselves with the strata by-laws and understand the principles of cohousing and nonviolent conflict resolution.
