DECOHOUSING GROUP

Tired of mowing lawns and raking leaves on their dream rural block 6 km out of Denmark, local social worker, Pamela Rumble and environmental planner, Paul Llewellyn launched a 'Vision Statement' calling for expressions of interest in a collaborative Denmark co-housing project. “People started contacting us and the DecoHousing Group was born,” said Pamela Rumble secretary of the group and now one of four directors of development company.

The Group was formalised (if not incorporated) with the original members signing an initial organising agreement.

Instead of buying separate blocks and building individually, DecoHousing group members are collaborating to  build a people friendly, local neighbourhood comprising a  cluster of 12 strata titled households, a substantial common-house, and shared facilitates.

They have established a  development company, Deco Living Pty Ltd, to design build and construct a Denmark co-housing project strata titled homes on  their behalf.

They then made an offer on the land, celebrated (left) and immersed themselves in the concept , ethos and practice of Co-Housing.

With erection of a billboard at the project entrance off Mt Shadford Road, the Group invited their community to 'unveil' the Project.

Subsequently, they have been busy sharing the vision and the planning with others...

and at events...
